There is an expectation that the successful applicant will learn Welsh following appointment to the post.

The East Primary Care Team is looking for experienced, organised and enthusiastic Receptionists to work in our Health Board managed GP Practice (Pen Y Maes Medical Centre, Wrexham).

Previous experience of working within a GP Practice would be beneficial and knowledge of the EMIS clinical system is desirable, however training can be given. The demands of a GP practice can change on a daily basis and therefore this role will be challenging.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will be booking appointments and dealing with patient queries therefore excellent communication skills and a confident telephone manner is required.

Proficient IT skills (including experience of Microsoft office) is also required as the post holder will also be undertaking a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth day to day running of the practices, including some data inputting.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a healthcare setting or a customer service environment but full training can be given to the right candidate.

The post holder will also be expected to work at other Health Board managed GP practices in the East area on an ad hoc basis to meet service needs and to cover staff absences. This will be discussed at interview.

### Applicant requirements

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Welsh language skills need to be learnt when appointed to the post

- Experience of using an IT system (e.g. EMIS, Oracle, WPAS)
- Experience of working in a GP surgery or an NHS office environment

### Qualifications

- A good standard of general education
- NVQ Level 2 in administration or equivalent qualification/experience

**Desirable**

- ECDL
- Word processing qualification (e.g. RSA 2, or equivalent experience)

- Ability to work as part of an integrated multi-skilled team member without direct supervision
- Flexible approach to the needs of the service including working at other sites when required
