### Job overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Neonatal Nurse to join our Directorate as a Quality & Safety Matron. This is a pivotal leadership role supporting the delivery of high-quality, safe, and effective care across our Neonatal services at St. Mary's Hospital and Queen Charlottes and Chelsea Hospital.

Working closely with the Directorate leadership team, you will lead and coordinate the governance and patient safety agenda, driving continuous improvement and ensuring robust systems of assurance across all sites.

This role is ideally suited to a nurse with a passion for quality improvement, patient safety, and service development, who thrives in a dynamic environment and is confident influencing practice at both operational and strategic level.

### Main duties of the job

- Coordinates and supports the directorate risk agenda, ensuring appropriate action is taken in relation to the risks identified, which are allocated to the correct person and implemented.
- Coordinates and supports the directorate incident agenda, ensuring appropriate actions are agreed and are allocated to the correct person and implemented.
- Coordinates and supports the directorate audit agenda, ensuring appropriate actions are agreed and are allocated to the correct person and implemented.
- Coordinates and supports the directorate complaints process, ensuring appropriate actions are agreed and are allocated to the correct person and implemented.
- Ensures incidents are reported onto the incident reporting system and investigated as per Trust policy.
- Ensures the duty of candour process is effectively completed, within set timescales and assists clinicians to effectively complete this process.
- Undertakes investigations, under the supervision of the Lead Nurse.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Proven track record in delivering high quality improvement projects work within a specified timeframe
- Proven track record in delivering audits within a specified timeframe
- Qualified in Specialty (QIS) neonatal
- Proven experience leading PSIRF-compliant investigations.

**Desirable**

- Evidence of local/national representation
- Experience of ODN governance meetings

### Education / Qualifications

**Essential**

- NMC registered nurse with post registration experience within Neonatology
- Educated to degree level in relevant subject area or equivalent experience
- Post-registration training
- Evidence of continuing professional development

**Desirable**

- MSc or working towards this qualification

### Skills/knowledge/ abilities

**Essential**

- Practical experience of clinical governance principles, systems and processes with in-depth knowledge of CQC standards and requirements.
- Leadership skills through experience of leading a team
- Strong commitment to improving patient services with a clear focus on achieving performance goals
- Sound IT skills (incl. email and office packages)
