### Job summary

We are looking for an auditor to deliver a proactive programme of audits and quality improvement initiatives across St Helena and its subsideries.

### Main duties of the job

Plan, undertake, document and report on audits and quality improvement projects across clinical, non-clinical and information governance areas

Support the Clinical Quality Lead as needed.

Support the Commercial Quality, Risk and Compliance Lead.

Support the Data Protection Officer.

### Job responsibilities

- Plan, undertake, document and report on audits and quality improvement projects across clinical, non-clinical and information governance areas.
- Investigate and observe working practices across St Helena and its subsidiaries.
- Support systematic assurance of non-clinical compliance activity, including governance records, incidents, complaints, risks, records of processing and other Sentinel modules.
- Undertake thematic reviews and investigative audit work to identify issues early and strengthen organisational learning, improvement and resilience.
- Work with the Commercial Quality, Risk and Compliance Lead to conduct quarterly information governance walkthroughs across all areas of St Helena.
- Present audit findings and reports to staff, managers and governance groups as needed.
- Contribute to monthly and quarterly reporting.
- Support St Helena users with day-to-day Sentinel tasks.
- Support the quality assurance of Sentinel records and related governance information, including data quality checks, record correction and follow-up of actions.
- Assist with the drafting and updating of governance documentation, such as policies and procedures.
- Provide additional audit and assurance capacity to support the Quality and Compliance Department and the Commercial Quality, Risk and Compliance Lead.
- Provide annual leave cover to the Clinical Quality Lead.
- Be aware of and follow all necessary infection control practice when entering clinical areas, for example carrying out hand washing.

Undertake any other duties as necessary within the scope of the grade of this post.

- Accurate, organised and methodical, with good attention to detail and a commitment to improving quality and compliance.
- Able to apply a logical, systems-based approach to problem solving.
- Able to work proactively, independently and collaboratively, maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately.

**Desirable**

- Enthusiasm for digital technology and applying it to working practices.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of undertaking administrative, audit, quality assurance, compliance or governance-related work, either in employment or as part of academic study.

**Desirable**

- Experience of working with records, actions, reports or systems where accuracy, consistency and follow-up are important.
- Experience of working in health, social care, charity, regulatory or compliance environments

### Communication

**Essential**

- Able to communicate clearly and professionally with staff and managers, both verbally and in writing.

**Desirable**

- Experience of report drafting and writing recommendations.
- Experience of presenting findings or reports to meetings or large groups.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Three relevant A Levels at C or above.

**Desirable**

- Degree (2:1 or above) in a relevant subject, including quantitative research.
- Audit, quality improvement, governance, compliance or data protection qualification or training.

### Skills and Knowledge

**Essential**

- Demonstrable, strong numeracy and literacy.
- Good IT skills, including use of Microsoft Office and confidence using electronic systems and databases. Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Able to gather, review and interpret information accurately, identifying themes, gaps and areas for improvement.

**Desirable**

- Knowledge of quality governance systems, audit methodology, information governance or regulatory assurance.
