We have just taken delivery of our second Intuitive robotic systems, marking a major milestone in the expansion of our robotic surgery programme. To help shape this next chapter, we are seeking an exceptional Advanced Surgical Care Practitioner (ASCP) to take a leading role in driving our robotic service forward.

### Main duties of the job

To provide expert assistance and support in robotic surgery to the Consultant Surgeons, SPRs, theatre staff and patients involved in robotic surgery  To provide a nurse specialist / Surgical First Assistant qualified nurse/ Surgical First Assistant (SFA) role.

### Skills

**Essential**

- Advanced communication skills
- Effective communication with proven ability to influence all levels of staff
- Ability to work autonomously as an independent practitioner
- Proven leadership and team leading skills
- Proven ability to manage and progress own professional development
- Able to respond to change and apply themselves to development in practice
- Delivery of the robotic service – ensuring staff, consumables, kit & access to robot is organised in a timely fashion

### Experience

**Essential**

- Significant clinical experience of surgical pathways as a nurse within a theatre role
- Experience of assisting in laparoscopy/ robotic and open major surgery

**Desirable**

- Experience in project management
- Evidence of leading service change

### Communication

**Essential**

- Good communication skills with colleagues and people at all levels
- Flexible approach to work
- Ability to manage stressful situations, raise clinical issues and work independently to ensure the patients’ needs are being met
- Ability to manage and motivate self and others

### Qualifications & Knowledge

**Essential**

- Registered nurse or trained surgical care practitioner.
- Master’s degree in Surgical Care Practice or at least 24 months experience as a surgical care practitioner with basic surgical skills course.
- Teaching and mentoring qualification
- Evidence of professional continuous development and portfolio of learning
- Management training and leadership development
- Recognised as an expert in the field of practice with the ability to clinically assess, diagnose and treat
- Knowledge and experience of managing and leading a team.

**Desirable**

- Undertaken undergraduate / postgraduate study in research methodology

**Essential**

- Ability to be flexible, to have initiative and be able to work in a team
- Motivated / positive – self-directed and committed
- Meets essential qualification & experience
- Ability to organise, prioritise and coordinate work
- Flexible approach to working hours to meet the needs of the service
