### Job overview

An exciting secondment opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse Associate to join the North Yorkshire Eating Disorder Service. The applicant must have already have completed the Nursing Associate foundation degree and be a registered Nurse Associate on the NMC register.

The successful applicant will work as part of the busy community eating disorder team offering physical health monitoring alongside therapeutic interventions.

Support is offered both from the team and wider service. We take pride in working together to maintain a supportive and friendly workplace that enables our staff to thrive and influence positive change to the lives of those we care for.

The successful applicant will need to have a foundation degree in Nursing Associate and be registered as a nursing associate on the NMC register.  Literacy and Numeracy Level 2 or equivalent is required to be recruited in to the position on Band 4.

You must have the Right to Work in the UK in order to be successfully appointed to this role. Please note, this role does not meet the required eligibility criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa and therefore the Trust is unable to offer sponsorship for this particular role.

### Main duties of the job

Be responsible for delivering high quality, patient centred, compassionate care under the direction of a multidisciplinary team with a focus on promoting health.

Be an accountable professional.

Work as part of a designated clinical and care team delivering care that focuses on the direct needs of the individual.

Have the ability to work without direct supervision, at times delivering care independently in line with the individuals defined plan of care, within the parameters of practice of the NA role, accessing clinical and care advice when needed.

This role will involve multiagency working and liaison with other services within Tees Esk and Wear Valley NHS Trust.

The post holder will run an physical health monitoring clinic and offer physical health assessment to compliment the comprehensive psychological, developmental, and social assessment undertaken by members of the MDT.

The post holder will coordinate and deliver direct care for a designated group of people. Recognising and taking responsibility and accountability for the way the care is delivered (as per registered practitioner guidelines).

The Nursing Associate will be responsible for delegation of duties to staff whilst developing and supervising junior staff/student nurses and trainee nursing associates.

The post holder will work within a multidisciplinary team in to support and assist peoples healthcare journey. The Nursing Associate will be respectful, professional at all times and foster excellent communication skills. They will adhere to the documentation standards required by the Trust and their regulatory body. The nurse associate will advocate for all individuals in their care, upholding NMC standards in all interactions.

The post holder will contribute to the practice development within their clinical care setting and work in accordance with Trust Policies, Procedures and Guidelines.

- Ability to organise and prioritise own delegated workload.
- Ability to deal with non- routine and unpredictable nature of workload and individual patient contact
- Ability to communicate effectively (written, verbal and non-verbal communication) with patients/relatives and carers and all members of the multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to develop effective and appropriate relationships with people, their families, carers and colleagues
- Ability to support, supervise and act as a role model to nursing associate students, other learners and health care support workers as required within the clinical setting
- Must be able to demonstrate the English language proficiency level required for this post

**Essential**

- Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate.
- Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information

**Desirable**

- Knowledge of mental illness and associated conditions.

- Up to date understanding of the scope of and role of the Nursing Associate in context of the nursing and multidisciplinary team and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development.
- Understands and acts in line with NMC professional standards for practice contained within The Code
- Knowledge of when to seek advice and escalate to the appropriate professional for expert help and advice
- Understand requirements for NMC professional Revalidation
- Understanding of the importance of following procedures and treatment plans
