### Job overview

This role helps people using the Specialist Weight Management Service by providing practical psychological support that can improve wellbeing and recovery.

You’ll work with people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties, using low intensity, cognitive behavioural therapy based approaches. You’ll be part of a supportive service that values clear communication, safe care and respect for each person’s needs, background and goals.

### Main duties of the job

You’ll have a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner qualification through an accredited training course, or be a qualified Graduate Mental Health Worker with relevant primary care experience. You’ll understand mild to moderate mental health problems and have experience supporting people with mental health needs. We welcome transferable skills, reflective practice and a commitment to respectful, inclusive care.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

## Person Specification

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Demonstrates an understanding of mild to moderate mental health issues and how it may present in Primary Care

**Desirable**

- Demonstrates a knowledge of the issues surround work and the impact it can have on mental health problems
- Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems
- Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post

### Experience

**Essential**

- Evidence or working with people who have experienced a mental health problem
- Demonstrates high standards in written communication and is able to write clear records, reports and letters
- Ability to manage own caseload and time.

**Desirable**

- Experience of working in Primary Care Services
- Worked in a service where agreed targets demonstrating clinical outcomes
- Experience of working with social inclusion
- Evidence of working in the local community
- Experience of working with a dialogue translator

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- PWP qualification with an IAPT accredited PWP Training Course or Qualified Graduate Mental Health Worker with relevant Primary Care experiences and competences as required
- Registered with BABCP or BPS, or prepared to work towards registration.

**Desirable**

- IAPT accredited PWP supervisor
- Training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, counselling or within a psychological therapy.
- Psychology or other health related postgraduate/undergraduate degree.
