An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Prostate Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our dynamic team Imperial College Healthcare.

As a Prostate  Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will provide expert care and nursing advice, to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients and relatives/carers, in collaboration with the multi-Disciplinary team, in line with the local and national targets.

The post will involve offering specialist nursing input to patients with Prostate Cancer, together with the established Uro-Oncology and multi-disciplinary team, the CNS will aim to deliver a world class patient experience.

The successful candidate will manage their own caseload of patients, working as a part of the multi-disciplinary Team. They will maintain effective communication with patients, families/carers and other healthcare professionals, to ensure seamless service delivery.

- A clinical nurse specialist (CNS) is a registered nurse with relevant experience and post-registration education for working at an enhanced level within a specific area of practice. They assess, manage, deliver care, advise on, and support patients.
- CNSs have the autonomy to act and accept responsibility and accountability for their actions, acting as a skilled advisor for patients, or a resource for others.
- CNSs perform specialist holistic assessment and treatment using a personalised approach. This is characterised by a level of decision making based on detailed knowledge and understanding of their area of practice.
- As part of the multidisciplinary team CNS's can work in or across many settings, depending on their area of expertise and scope of practice.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Relevant and substantial post registration experience
- Experience of working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist.
- Experience of teaching and assessing others
- Experience of audit and service development

**Desirable**

- Experience of leading and managing
- Research experience

### Education/ qualifications

**Essential**

- NMC registration and a degree in related subject.
- Post registration qualification(s) in speciality or relevant subject (Cancer)
- Experience in Prostate Cancer
- Advanced Communication course and Level 2 psychological skills training.
- Recognised teaching qualification or demonstratable teaching experience

**Desirable**

- MSc or MA in related speciality
- Recognised physical assessment module at level 7
- Quality improvement training

### Skills/knowledge/ abilities

**Essential**

- In depth knowledge of speciality and use of evidence-based practice
- Able to demonstrate advanced communication skills and manage complex situations
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Excellent organisational skills and advanced ICT skills, including Microsoft office

**Desirable**

- Ability to lead and influence change
- Ability to design and deliver education programmes.
