Are you ready to help shape the future of primary care research? We’re looking for a people‑centred Research Project Manager to bring together YHN GP practices and the HDFT Research & Innovation team to create a new, integrated model for delivering research across our area.

In this role, you’ll map what’s happening now, identify what needs to change, and help design a smarter, more streamlined approach to research delivery. You’ll boost research activity, improve access to NIHR studies, and work directly with practices, partners and communities to champion the value of research in improving patient care.

This is a Monday–Friday role with flexible working options.

### Main duties of the job

Project Management

Conduct a structured scoping phase to:

- Map current research activity, delivery models and best practice
- Identify barriers including capacity, capability, governance and resources
- Assess data flows and strengthen digital connectivity to improve participant identification, feasibility and study delivery
- Establish a joint steering group to design and oversee a new integrated model
- Capture patient and public perspectives through a joint involvement group Establish a joint steering group to support decision making, progress and a shared vision to inform a model for integrated research delivery.

Lead consultations, produce reports, manage performance and maintain a detailed project plan.

- Develop a data sharing agreement, joint governance framework and streamlined systems to accelerate study setup. Activate rapid study setup using shared resources, equipment and training, supported by a GP–Trust information platform. Monitor and track new opportunities in primary care research that require either primary care or joint delivery across the HDFT / YHN footprint. Create a Key Performance Indicator (KPI) dashboard, maintain risk and issue logs, ensuring clear governance reporting to organisations. Test the model in selected practices and scale across the federation if successful. Liaise with the HDFT R&I team and the NIHR RRDN regarding study approvals and primary care research processes.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will be line managed by a senior leader in the R&I team and will work as part of a team of experienced research staff across HDFT and YHN.

The project manager will be expected to work autonomously at times and to manage the portfolio of research studies alongside YHN team members, the YHN Clinical Lead and Chief Executive officer.

The project manager will be required to travel across the YHN GP federation as well as between HDFT sites.

## Person Specification

### Essential & Desirable

**Essential**

- Educated to degree level in a relevant subject.
- Significant knowledge and experience gained from working in research development, delivery or governance, ideally within general practice or secondary care setting.
- Significant knowledge gained from working within research development, delivery or governance preferably in general practice or secondary care including care pathways / referral processes.
- Conscientious, accurate and attentive to detail, with a commitment to delivering high quality work.

**Desirable**

- Management / leadership and or project management qualification.
- Experience of working in a primary care research environment.
- Clinical registered professional.
