## Person Specification

### Previous experience

**Essential**

- Substantial NHS experience of managing teams
- Experience of working at senior project management or programme management level in a complex organisation facilitating transformational change within and across healthcare organisations
- Experience of working at senior operational management level in large complex environment

**Desirable**

- Previous role in service improvement or operational experience above service manager level

### Qualifications/ Education

**Essential**

- Educated to first Degree with significant experience as senior manager in the NHS
- Evidence of Master’s degree, or other post graduate qualifications, or equivalent by virtue of experience

**Desirable**

- Project Management qualification

### Skills/Knowledge/ Ability

**Essential**

- Ability to complete and action Project Briefs, Project Initiation Documents (PIDs), Project Implementation Plans, Highlight Reports, Exception Reports, Risk Logs, and Project Closure Reports
- Knowledge and ability of using and applying service improvement techniques including Lean and patient flow, the productive series, pathway process redesign and PDSA cycles
- A proven ability to manage data and information effectively within a service improvement environment
- Ability to manage a team, work with and influence senior management and clinicians
- Ability to manage and monitor financial resources and delivering projects within budget
- Ability to problem solve and support others to develop this skill
- Excellent communication skills and evidence of ability to motivate, negotiate, train, coach and reassure in a difficult or uncertain environment
