The post holder will provide expert professional leadership and advice on all aspects of mental health nursing for Specialist Mental health Services and Unscheduled Care Mental Health Services for Glasgow City HSCP. This incorporates that within the designated geographical remit and areas above and as directed by the Chief Nurse Adult Services the post holder will:

- Ensure application/assurance for the implementation for strategic development for mental health nursing
- Ensure nursing contribution to the development of strategic policy/ standards and guidance
- Governance of regulatory standards and requirements
- Lead and support nursing practice development/implementation
- Lead and support for service redesign and ensuring mental health nursing contribution in any change agenda
- Lead Mental Health Nursing practice competence
- Lead Mental Health Nursing workforce & workload planning and development
- Provide Professional advisory role to the Senior Management Team(s) in respect of professional standards, nursing practice and governance

The post holder reports to and supports the Chief Nurse to achieve organisational objectives outlined in the professional nursing agenda across mental health system wide services.
