### Position:

An exciting opportunity has arisen within NHS Ayrshire and Arran’s Procurement Department for a 12-month fixed-term Procurement Officer, supporting the Scan for Safety programme. This role is based across University Hospital Ayr (UHA) and University Hospital Crosshouse (UHC).

The Supplies & Distribution Team plays a critical role in ensuring clinical areas receive the products they need to deliver safe and effective patient care. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the rollout of the Scan for Safety initiative, a key programme designed to improve patient safety, enhance stock management, and support more efficient clinical processes across the organisation.

As a Procurement Officer, you will work closely with clinical and operational teams to ensure stock is available at the right time and in the right place, while supporting the implementation of new systems and ways of working that directly impact frontline services.

### Hours:

36 hours per week.

### UK Driving Licence:

A UK driving licence is desirable but not essential for this role.

### What you will do:

This post is part of a team of Customer Service Assistants / Procurement Officer and the postholder will be responsible for ensuring theatres have sufficient supplies of stock products. The postholder will support the roll out of the Scan for Safety project currently in place within ophthalmology. The Procurement Officer aspect will be responsible for catalogue updates in relation to the specialty, adding, maintaining and deleting items where appropriate. They will also be responsible to assist with PECOS user roles and ensuring users have the correct access in terms of catalogues and budget code access. They will utilise a shared e-mail inbox and be responsible to timely resolution of any procurement related issues which may arise within the roll out and implementation of Scan for Safety.

### Knowledge, training and/or experience required for this post:

Knowledge of procurement and supplies, especially in a hospital environment. Experience dealing with a wide range of stakeholders and problem solving and being able to work on own initiative. Stakeholders would include clinical staff, Ward Product Managers, auxiliaries, porters and external suppliers.

Dealing with Procurement & Stock systems and able to communicate well verbally and via e-mail and Teams.

Dealing with a wide range of customers within the organisation. Customer Care experience, experience of working in a hospital environment.

Experience

Knowledge of Supplies/Stores/Stock control procedures. IT literate (Microsoft packages; Word, Excel, Teams & E-mail) as well as Procurement & stock control specific systems. These would include PECOS, ECM & Genesis systems. Liaising with suppliers to ensure accuracy of products, prices, units of measure and ensuring goods arrive in adequate time as required by clinical staff. Experience fast and accurate data inputting to systems.

Working in a fast paced, changing environment.
