NHS Highland is seeking an experienced Prison Healthcare Manager to lead and develop healthcare services at HMP Inverness.

This is a senior leadership role within a complex and challenging environment, with responsibility for the operational, strategic and quality management of a large multidisciplinary team delivering healthcare to people in custody.

The postholder will provide professional leadership across medical, nursing and administrative staff, oversee service performance, workforce planning and budget management, and ensure high standards of clinical governance, risk management and quality improvement. You will work closely with internal colleagues and external partners including Scottish Prison Service, Police Scotland, Scottish Ambulance Service and third sector organisations.

We are looking for a confident, resilient and values‑driven leader with significant management experience in complex services, strong people‑management skills, and the ability to manage change and competing priorities in a demanding setting. Experience of prison healthcare, forensic, mental health or substance use services would be advantageous but is not essential.

This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in delivering high‑quality healthcare to a vulnerable population while influencing service development at local and regional level.

This post will be based initially at HMP Inverness then transfer to HMP Highland.
