GMMH are seeking a Principal Clinical Psychologist with the passion, expertise, and leadership skills to shape the training experience of our trainee clinical psychologists.

We are recruiting a Principal Clinical Psychologist to work closely with the Chief Psychological Professions Officer and senior GMMH clinical psychologists to ensure high‑quality training, support, and development for GMMH‑employed trainee clinical psychologists.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, supportive team of senior clinical psychologists and administrative colleagues, acting as a practice educator and champion for clinical psychology training within the Trust. We are looking for someone with strong clinical leadership experience, a solid understanding of clinical psychology training, and the confidence to guide and support trainees throughout their training journey. The postholder will play a pivotal role in helping GMMH meet its responsibilities under the NHSE education agreement and in maintaining a safe, inclusive, and effective learning environment.

Main Duties of the Role

The postholder will:

- Provide line management support to GMMH‑employed trainee clinical psychologists on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology Programme.
- Ensure GMMH meets its obligations under the NHSE education agreement.
- Support trainees who require reasonable adjustments, ensuring equitable access to training.
- Promote and maintain a positive, psychologically safe learning culture within GMMH clinical psychology training.
- Work closely with trainees, the University of Manchester Programme team, and GMMH clinical psychologists who offer training placements.
- Contribute to the development and coordination of high‑quality training experiences across the Trust.

Training, ongoing supervision, and support from senior GMMH colleagues will be provided where needed.

## Person Specification

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Knowledge and awareness of staff requiring reasonable adjustments, how to support them and meet their needs.

**Desirable**

- Experience of supporting staff with additional needs, disability passports and academic support.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Further specialist managerial experience and training, including supervision, management and training of clinical psychology staff. Significant experience of service development and leadership. Experience of developing assessments, formulations and therapeutic intervention to people presenting with complex mental health problems.

**Desirable**

- Worked within a trauma-informed environment.
- Experience of clinical psychology training or staff management
- Experience of providing supervision and training to multi-disciplinary staff

### Education/Qualifications

**Essential**

- Doctoral degree in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996)
- Current HCPC registration as a clinical psychologist.

**Desirable**

- Further post graduate or specialist training in psychology leadership / staff management
