The QEUH provides a full laboratory diagnostic service as well as a regional and national service for toxicology and metabolic biochemistry. As a key component of the role, you will be expected to develop specialist analytical skills, particularly in Mass Spectrometry (both LC-MS/MS and GC-MS). You will be expected to participate in all aspects of the department including reporting, clinical liaison, research and development, teaching and audit. You will have advanced clinical knowledge and interpretive skills. For appointment at AfC 8a we will require you to have relevant Clinical Biochemistry experience, be HCPC registered as a Clinical Scientist and an MSc or equivalent in Clinical Biochemistry and have obtained FRCPath Part 1. Consideration will be given to appoint under AfC annex 21 for candidates who are HCPC registered as a clinical scientist but who have yet to attain the written FRCPath examination but are actively working towards it.
