Applications are invited for the post of Preterm Clinical Fellow (ST4+ equivalent) in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Guys and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.

There is 1 full-time positions available fixed term for minimum 12 months.

The Preterm Clinical Fellow will be based in the preterm team at St Thomas' Hospital.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will be based with the preterm team at St Thomas' Hospital. They will assist in running the preterm clinic all day Wednesday. Working in collaboration with the 3 preterm consultants, they will be expected to become competent to provide expert advice regarding inpatients on the antenatal ward and on the Hospital Birth Centre. The post holder will work to align the goals for preterm prediction, prevention and preparation outlined in the Saving Babies Lives care Bundle v3 (SBLCBv3) and the BAPM Framework for extreme prematurity. They will become competent in the insertion of transvaginal and transabdominal cerclages. It is anticipated that they will undertake quality improvement projects within the service and this will be worked up together with their supervisor. The post holder will also be supervising KCL BSc students with their ongoing projects. It is anticipated that this may be used as a stepping stone to pursue a MD/PhD in preterm birth.

The post holder will do an all-day theatre list once a month for the insertion of transabdominal cerclages. They will also be available to undertake emergency cerclages during the weekdays.

**Essential**

- Good basic knowledge of Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills.

- Demonstrate compassionate and empathetic care

**Desirable**

- Understanding of SCLCBv3 Element 5 and strategies for prediction, prevention and optimisation
- Taken an active role in audit/research
- Interest in education and quality improvement

### Experience

**Essential**

- 12 months minimum of Obstetrics & Gynaecology experience as an ST3/4 or equivalent in an educationally approved UK post, in an RCOG approved unit, or similar

**Desirable**

- Familiarity with managing women who present to MAU with history of preterm birth
- Ability to do transvaginal cervical length assessment

### Qualifications and Training

**Essential**

- Eligible for full UK GMC registration and a Licence to Practise
- MRCOG (UK) Part 1 or equivalent
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- MBBS or equivalent

**Desirable**

- Additional Degree or MSc in relevant subject
- Passed MRCOG Part 2 (or equivalent)
