We are looking to recruit Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians (PTPT’s) to work within all areas of the Derbyshire Healthcare Pharmacy department. Pharmacy Technicians have an important role within the hospital, managing all aspects of medicines.

This is an excellent opportunity to train for a career as a Registered Pharmacy Technician. You will study for a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians whilst you work on an Apprenticeship program, gaining experience in the various areas of pharmacy within the Hospital. Upon completion of the Diploma, you will be eligible to register as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

Applicants must possess a minimum of 4 GCSEs or equivalent at Grade 4/C or above, these must include English, Maths and a Science subject.

Our Pharmacy department already has a well-established education and training portfolio including undergraduate placements, trainee pharmacists and bespoke in-house training.

We are looking for candidates with vision and motivation to join our dynamic team. You must be willing and able to follow an academic and practical training course and be committed to complete independent study in your own time.

### Main duties of the job

- Participate in the dispensing of individual patient medicines including controlled drugs, extemporaneous preparations, clinical trials against department procedures ensuring legal and ethical requirements are met.
- Complete Accredited Checking of medicines log and assessment
- Participate in the receipt, ordering and distribution of medicines to wards and teams.
- Complete Medicine Reconciliation at ward level, checking patient own medicines and ensuring a supply of medicines is available.
- Develop knowledge and effectively counsel patients on their medication and provide medicine advice.
- Order repeat inpatient and stock medicines.
- Complete pharmacy governance audits.
- Provide excellent customer care to patients, healthcare workers and the public ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times.

### Attainment and Qualifications

**Essential**

- 4 GCSE (or equivalent) at grade A* to C or grade 4 or above including Maths, English Language or Literature (English speaking or Listening are not acceptable) and a Science

**Desirable**

- NVQ/QCF Level 2 in pharmacy services or equivalent
- Information technology (IT) qualifications e.g.,/ GSCE in IT, ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence etc)
