An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) or Nurse to join the Practice Education Team as a Practice Facilitator for Core Clinical Services.

Our department encompasses a wide range of clinical areas, including the Surgical Day Admission Unit (Woodpecker & Nightingale), the Nurse‑Led Sedation Unit, Pre‑Assessment, Anaesthetics, Scrub, Recovery, Interventional Radiology, the Cardiac Catheter Lab, as well as specialist services such as the Central Venous Access Team and the Pain Management Team.

In this role, you will provide education and support to a diverse group of nursing and allied healthcare professionals, with a primary focus on staff working in both areas Anaesthetics and Scrub. Other areas within our department are supported by different members of the Education Team, and we work collaboratively to ensure staff are confident and competent throughout every stage of the patient’s surgical journey.

We are looking for a versatile and experienced practitioner who can support the full range of clinical services within the directorate. Working closely with the wider Education Team, you will contribute to delivering high‑quality education, support, and training to staff across our clinical areas.

In this role, you will work with new starters, Student and Apprentice Nurses/ODPs, qualified practitioners, and Healthcare Support Workers within the clinical environment.

A core aspect of the position is helping staff identify, develop, and achieve the competencies required for their role and scope of practice.

You must have experience in caring for surgical patients and be able to perform both anaesthetic and scrub roles.

- Excellent clinical skills in paediatric perioperative care
- Effective managerial, organisational, and leadership skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Effective teaching, training, and preceptorship skills

- Able to delegate and prioritise

**Desirable**

- Competent in Intravenous Therapy
- Competent in Cannulation

### Experience/Knowledge

- Experience at Band 6 within relevant perioperative clinical environment

- Post-registration experience as Anaesthetic Practitioner, including paediatric anaesthesia
- Clinical experience as Scrub Practitioner

**Desirable**

- Experience of handling clinical incidents and complaints
- Previous experience of change management and problem solving
- Previous experience of research and audit
- Post-registration experience in Pre-Assessment and/or Recovery
- Awareness of adult learning and the process of staff development

### Academic/Professional qualification/Training

**Essential**

- NMC Registered Nurse (Child or Adult) or HCPC Registered Operating Department Practitioner
- Evidence of on-going continuing professional development within the speciality
- A student supervisor/ assessor or Mentorship qualification
- A relevant post-registration accredited clinical course

**Desirable**

- Leadership or management training
