An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Band 7 to join our Acute Admissions Unit (AAU) in the capacity of Practice Development Nurse. We are seeking an individual who has the integrity, drive and commitment to build upon the achievements made thus far, and who will continue to lead the nursing team in providing the best quality care for this client group and their families. To be successful you will need to be committed to ensuring patients are treated with dignity, care and compassion.

The role of the Practice Development Nurse is to be an expert practitioner who will lead by example and who can provide leadership and organisation to the multidisciplinary team. The post holder will ensure that quality indicators are achieved and where necessary ensure effective and continuous evaluation and action taken where appropriate.

The post holder must be able to make informed decisions within their own area and scope of professional practice to ensure agreed standards and targets are met. The team has a strong multidisciplinary focus within the service, and the successful candidate will need to be able to work inter-professionally and link closely with the team to achieve the best possible outcomes for the client group.

There will be an expectation that the post holder will provide cross cover within the Older Peoples Service when the need arises.

You will lead initiatives that promote evidence-based care, professional growth, and a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring that nursing practice aligns with NHSE, CQC, NMC and supporting learning within Acute Medicine. You will work collaboratively with clinical leaders, matrons, educators, and the multidisciplinary team. You will design, deliver, and evaluate education programmes that enhance knowledge, skills, and confidence amongst staff.

You will act as a visible clinical leader and role model, fostering compassionate, patient-centred care, and embedding a culture of learning and accountability that supports both staff wellbeing and excellent patient outcomes.

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Adaptable and flexible
- Demonstrates initiative and innovative practice
- Ability to facilitate change management
- Ability to be reflective, accept criticism and act constructively
- Positive role model
- Compiling comprehensive duty rota for nursing and ancillary staff
- Knowledge and understanding of current issues in general nursing, acute nursing and the NHS.
- Thorough understanding and knowledge of key indicators of excellent quality care.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience at band 6 within an acute care setting.
- Current experience of Educational leadership in an acute ward.
- Current experience of appraising staff.
- Evidence of teaching and developing staff both formally and informally.

**Desirable**

- Evidence of leadership development/ education development
- Experience of working within acute medicine.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Registered Adult Nurse
- NMC registration (in date)
- Teaching/Mentorship qualification e.g. ENB 998 or equivalent

**Desirable**

- Advanced Life Support provider
- Degree level or working towards in relevant subject
