### Job overview

Power BI Developer (Data Engineer) – Band 8a

Help Shape the Future of Analytics at Barts Health NHS Trust

Barts Health NHS Trust is embarking on an exciting transformation of its analytics and reporting services, moving from Qlik to Microsoft Fabric and Power BI. We are looking for an ambitious and technically skilled Power BI Developer (Data Engineer) to play a leading role in this strategic programme.

This is a unique opportunity to join one of the UK's largest NHS trusts and help build a modern, data-driven analytics platform that will support clinical, operational and corporate decision-making across the organisation.

About the Role

Working within our BI, Data and Analytics function, you will lead the development, migration and assurance of Power BI solutions as we transition to Microsoft Fabric. You will work closely with our Centre of Excellence delivery partner, gaining hands-on experience with the latest Microsoft data technologies while helping establish sustainable in-house capability for the future.

### Main duties of the job

Lead the development of Power BI and Microsoft Fabric reporting solutions.

- Support the migration of existing Qlik dashboards to Power BI.

- Develop scalable data models, semantic models and reporting products.

- Ensure data quality, governance, security and reporting standards are maintained.

- Work with clinical, operational and corporate stakeholders to translate business requirements into actionable insights.

- Help build internal capability through knowledge transfer, training and best-practice development.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking an experienced BI professional who can combine strong technical skills with excellent stakeholder engagement.

You will have:

- Significant experience developing dashboards and reports in Power BI.

- Strong knowledge of DAX, data modelling and SQL.

- Experience delivering or supporting BI platform migrations.

- The ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

- A collaborative approach and a passion for improving how organisations use data.

Experience with Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, Azure data technologies, Qlik or NHS datasets would be an advantage.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We are dedicated to being an outstanding place to work and will work with you to get the best experience. We know flexible working is not a one size fits all and will mean something different to everyone. We are inclusive, so if you are interested in flexible working, please speak to the recruiting manager.

“Although this position is a 12 months fixed-term contract, the actual contract duration will be adjusted to account for the time taken to advertise the post, complete the hiring process, and finalise pre-employment checks. This means the contract will begin when the candidate starts the role and may be slightly shorter than 12 months.”
