We are looking to appoint a post-CCT Clinical Fellow Knee Orthopaedic Surgery.

Bart’s Health is one of the largest NHS trusts in the UK and offers comprehensive service covering the full range of Trauma and Orthopaedic surgery and has a long and rich heritage of innovation and training in orthopaedics and trauma.

The post CCT arthroplasty fellowship position is for 12 months, working across our network of hospitals (The Royal London Hospital, Bart’s Health Orthopaedic Centre and Whipps Cross Hospital). Our team treat the full range knee conditions allowing us to customize the fellowships to a degree in order to provide an optimal experience suited to the successful applicant’s needs. The fellowship provide solid grounding in knee arthroplasty (total and partial), Knee preservation (cartilage, meniscus, osteotomy and ligament) as well as exposure to complex revision surgery as the major revision knee centre including; peri-prosthetic fracture management, multi-stage revision and massive endo-prosthetic replacement.

### Main duties of the job

The positions provides a mixture of supervised and independent practice to prepare the fellows for independent consultant practice with a specialist interest in knee surgery furthermore. The fellows are integral members of the team involved in day to day care of patient in clinics, theatre and on the wards.

The successful applicant(s) will work closely with all the consultants in the department, Mr Jaison Patel and Mr Joshua Lee will act as the educational supervisor and the whole team will assist in mentoring. The Barts fellowships have an excellent record of helping the applicants directly move on to substantive consultant posts.

Our orthopaedic academic unit has a strong track record of involvement in clinical trials and research, the fellows are strongly encouraged to actively participate in research opportunities. In addition, the fellows are expected to complete an audit or quality improvement project during their time and publish a paper in a peer reviewed journal.

We are delighted to accept fellows from across the UK and internationally.

You must hold full registration with the General Medical Council and be post CCT or within 3 months of obtaining CCT.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Completed training in Trauma and Orthopaedics (e.g. post-CCT)
- Teaching undergraduates and postgraduates

**Desirable**

- Experience at consultant level working in a major trauma centre
- Fellowship training in knee surgery

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Full GMC Registration with current licence to practice
- The candidate should be on the GMC specialist register or within 6-months of obtaining this.
- Evidence of participation in research (peer reviewed publications etc.)
- Relevant Fellowship training

**Desirable**

- Evidence of innovative approaches to healthcare
- Higher level research degree (MD or equivalent)
