### Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a Post-CCT Clinical Fellow to join a friendly and supportive Acute Paediatric team within a busy District General Hospital. The post is ideal for a paediatrician who has recently achieved, or is close to achieving, CCT and wishes to further develop their acute paediatric skills while gaining valuable experience in leadership, quality improvement, medical education and service development.

The successful candidate will work closely with an experienced and approachable consultant team, playing a key role in delivering high-quality acute paediatric care across inpatient services, the Paediatric Assessment Unit and neonatal services. The role offers a high degree of clinical autonomy alongside excellent opportunities to strengthen skills in governance, teaching, audit, quality improvement and service transformation.

The post holder will form part of the department's middle-grade workforce and participate in the acute paediatric registrar rota, including resident overnight on-call duties, weekend working and support for the neonatal rota, with consultant support available at all times.

This role provides an excellent opportunity to enhance clinical and leadership skills, contribute to departmental projects and service improvement initiatives, and build a portfolio aligned to future Consultant opportunities.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The successful candidate will work on the ST3+ higher rota.

Duties will include:

Inpatient paediatrics; assessment and management of acute referrals from A&E and primary care. Care of those already inpatient on children’s wards and support and supervision of first on-call trainees.

Neonatal Unit; on-going care and management of babies on the NNU, in transitional care and the post-natal wards. Support and supervision for first on trainees in these areas. Attendance at high risk deliveries.

Safeguarding; assessment and management of children referred for safeguarding assessment under direct supervision of on-call consultant. Attendance at monthly peer review meetings.

Administration; responsibility for e-discharges, Badger summaries, safeguarding reports and outpatient letters.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
