Are you a talented International Psychiatrist looking to boost your career in the UK through a GMC-approved sponsorship scheme?

We have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic, committed, and talented psychiatrists to gain experience via the Portfolio pathway, previously known as Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR). NHS Fife has created a number of CESR Fellowship posts in General Adult Psychiatry and Older Adult Psychiatry. These support entry into Specialist register through the Portfolio pathway. This then enables you to act as a substantive NHS consultant. Time would be allocated for this, along with CESR-specific support. We have a track record of supporting our substantive Specialty Doctors through this process, as well as a CESR tutor and Royal College Evaluator leading this scheme.

Design of the CESR Fellowship scheme

Our 3 year programme is specially designed to provide international psychiatrists with all the necessary support including visa sponsorship, relocation support, and bespoke mentoring to suit individual portfolio needs to achieve CESR in their required field.The scheme will give candidates exposure to various clinical settings to develop necessary knowledge, skills, and experience – a GMC requirement to gain entry into specialist register. There should be opportunities for participation in clinical governance. Candidates will remain on the programme for at least three years (subject to a satisfactory progression).The doctor will be given a specific job plan with special interest sessions which help to cover the needs of the GMC criteria for Knowledge, skill and Experience needed for specialist register.

To be eligible for the programme, you must have at least 3 years training in Psychiatry with a formal qualification like M.D.(Psychiatry) or other Postgraduate qualifications which were gained after a period of training and qualifying examinations and is recognised by GMC. You must also be currently engaged in clinical practice over the last 12 months and meet GMC’s Evidence of knowledge of English requirements. Candidates previously refused GMC registration through alternative routes including PLAB will not be ordinarily considered for the programme.

**Essential**

- Evidence of Knowledge of English (This requires an average score of at least 7.5, with a score of at least 7.0 in each area (speaking, listening, reading and writing) under the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or the Occupational English Test (medicine version) for doctors who score at least a ‘B’ in each domain
- Satisfactory fitness for employment including Occupation health clearance and PVG clearance
- Ability/willingness to travel as required by the duties of the post.

### Experience

- At least three years’ full-time equivalent postgraduate training, including experience in the relevant psychiatric specialty.

### Qualifications

- MBBS or equivalent.
- MRCPsych /equivalent postgraduate qualification in psychiatry

**Desirable**

- MRCPsych and other degrees including Ph.D. in relevant speciality.
- Approved Medical Practitioner with regard to Mental Health (Care & Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2002.
