We are offering an exciting opportunity to join our Community Podiatry Services Team as a Podiatry Assistant.

You will be working with senior qualified podiatrists and independently to carry out treatments for patients including health promotion. You will deliver high quality professional care within a variety of patient settings including Health Centres, Clinics, Hospitals, Medical Practices, Residential Settings and Patients Homes.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with great initiative, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and team spirit, as well as being committed to providing exceptional patient care to assist them in achieving their maximum potential.

You will be encouraged to take part in various CPD activities including clinical support and in-house training during team meetings.

You will be required to provide flexibility in line with the service needs and have the ability to work in a variety of locations across the Trust, as the service requires.

### Main duties of the job

As Podiatry Assistant you will establish and maintain effective working relationships both within the Trust and with external organisations to meet service requirements and support.

As part of this role, you will be expected to:

- Consider each service user’s personal circumstances and preferences in order to implement and adjust programmes of care and intervention at the direction of the Podiatrist responsible for care.
- Maintain and develop skills and knowledge to deliver a range of interventions under the guidance of a HCPC registered Podiatrist and set an example of good practice to other team members including skill sharing.
- Maintain sensitivity to the emotional needs of the Service user and their carers offering reassurance and empathy. This may be regarding the nature/prognosis of their condition and implications of the same.
- Work with individuals and carers who may find it difficult to engage with the service or aspects of the service resulting in uncooperative or challenging behaviour that must be managed

## Person Specification

### EXPERIENCE

**Essential**

- Relevant placements/experience to the role, or demonstratable understanding of the podiatric profession and the role of a podiatry assistant

**Desirable**

- Relevant placements/experience to the role including supporting or contributing to the management of Supporting service users, families and carers during the Podiatry care process.
- Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team or previous healthcare/social care experience

### QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

**Essential**

- Qualifications and Credit Framework QCF/NVQ/apprenticeship level 3 in healthcare/social care or appropriate subject with transferrable skillset /subject
- Literacy and numeracy qualification at GCSE / level 2 functional skills or equivalent
- NVQ level 2 (or equivalent) in Health Care or equivalent subject
- Commitment to complete the Royal College of Podiatry Assistant Practitioner course within a 24-month period if not already completed

**Desirable**

- Experience in health care delivery
- Completed Royal College of Podiatry Assistant Practitioner course

### SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

**Essential**

- Basic IT skills
- Ability to manage time effectively.
- Ability and willingness to independently travel across the geographical area to provide podiatry care in hospital, clinics and domiciliary setting as per countywide service need

**Desirable**

- Understanding of Information Governance, Data Protection, HCPC/NMC and Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults
