We are seeking a motivated and skilled Plumbing & Heating Engineer to join our Estates Team within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. You will support the safe and effective delivery of patient care by maintaining essential building services and mechanical systems across our sites.

This advert covers potential vacancies across Aneurin Bevan University Health Board's Pan-Gwent sites, namely Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny; Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport; Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr, Caerphilly; and The Grange University Hospital, Cwmbran. ### Main duties of the job

As a Plumbing & Heating Engineer, you will:

Carry out planned, reactive, and emergency maintenance on a wide range of mechanical, plumbing, and heating systems. Diagnose and repair complex faults on plant, equipment, and building services.

Work on systems including: Heating and hot water systems Air Handling Units (including theatre environments) Compressed air systems Steam and pressurised systems BMS controls Domestic plumbing, sanitary ware, and drainage

Liaise with clinical and non‑clinical staff to minimise disruption to patient areas. Participate in shift cover, shift relief, and/or on‑call duties as required. Ensure compliance with HTMs, Water Regulations, ACOP L8, Health Board procedures and safe systems of work. Provide technical advice and support to colleagues, contractors, and apprentices. Maintain accurate records to support statutory compliance.

### Applicant requirements

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

### Qualifications and Knowledge

**Essential**

- Completed an accredited Mechanical apprenticeship training course to a minimum level 3 vocational qualification or equivalent plus relevant training or equivalent experience, plus additional training and developed skills e.g. air conditioning
- High level of knowledge and understanding of electrical/mechanical services/systems and a working knowledge of other associated trades. Familiarity with approved guidance documents

- Evidence of significant CPD
- JIB Registration
- Knowledge of Health Technical Memoranda
- General awareness of other engineering maintenance related statutory legislation
