An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and forward-thinking registered Physiotherapist to join our established Neurological Rehabilitation Team as a Band 7 Physiotherapist within South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust.

This role offers the chance to combine advanced clinical practice with leadership, supporting the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based physiotherapy to patients with complex neurological conditions in an outpatient setting.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will take a key role in the day-to-day management of the Neurological and Lower Limb Outpatient Physiotherapy Team, including staff supervision, appraisal, and service support. Working as a highly specialised autonomous practitioner, you will provide expert assessment and treatment while ensuring safe, effective, and patient-centred care.

You will also:

- Provide clinical lead.
- Contribute to service development, using evidence-based practice to inform policies and guidelines.
- Act as a specialist resource, offering advice, education, and support to colleagues across the Trust.
- Support service planning and continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to enhance delivery.
- Deputise for senior colleagues as required

We are looking for a candidate with:

- Significant experience in the management of neurological conditions.
- Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making skills.
- Proven ability in team leadership and service development.
- A commitment to high standards of patient care and professional development.

### Job responsibilities

1. To lead a team of Physiotherapists in the day-to-day activities within a specialist area.

2. To be assigned delegate in the absence of the Service Line Lead.

3. Conduct appraisals of Senior Physiotherapists

4. Undertake HR functions such as first line sickness monitoring, annual leave allocation and first level capability reviews.

5. To work as an autonomous practitioner to independently manage caseloads which will incorporate routine and complex presentation of conditions.

6. Through highly specialist clinical reasoning provide specialist physiotherapy assessment, treatment and management of patients with neurological conditions across South Tyneside and Sunderland Physiotherapy.

7. Triage referrals, ensuring patients are directed to the most appropriate service.

8. Participate as an active member of the Physiotherapy Rehabilitation Service and Neurological MDT.

9. To be aware of current changes and advances in Physiotherapy practice and adapt intervention and protocols accordingly.

10. To be aware of and up to date with local/national initiatives which will impact upon their teams service delivery.

11. To support and develop the neurological rehabilitation service through planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating patient pathways in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team.

12. Take a lead role in clinical practice issues, raising the profile of the service and offering specialist advice to planning and service development teams to assist in the implementation of service improvements.

13. To develop the clinical education of staff within the specialism and be responsible for the supervision of unqualified and newly qualified Physiotherapists who work under your direct supervision.

- HCPC registered Physiotherapist
- Degree in Physiotherapy (or equivalent).

- Basic numeracy and literacy skills to level 1 or equivalent
- Basic IT skills
- Evidence of post-graduate competence, knowledge and skills in Specialty area
