Position:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Physiotherapy Assistant Practitioner based at University Hospital Crosshouse. This post is offered on a permanent basis.

Hours:

32.4 hours per week.

From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

UK Driving Licence:

A UK driving licence is essential for this role.

What you will do:

You will support the delivery of the Physiotherapy Service to patients in the Trauma Orthopaedic specialty at University Hospital Crosshouse, by providing assessment and rehabilitation. You will work within your scope of practice as a healthcare support worker and be supported by the registered physiotherapists in the team. You will encourage and motivate your patients and help empower them to regain mobility, and confidence and achieve their goals. You will collaborate with other healthcare professionals to make a meaningful impact on patient recovery and facilitate their discharge from hospital. Experience of team working, communication and experience working in a healthcare environment would be beneficial.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required for this post:

You will be educated to a Standard Grade level or equivalent with a health & social care related SVQ III or recognised fitness industry qualification. You will have relevant experience of assisting individuals to regain physical function in a healthcare of fitness setting; working with older adults and working as part of a team. You will have knowledge of human anatomy relevant to orthopaedics conditions and an awareness of health and safety. You will have strong communication skills with an ability to motivate and encourage individuals, and well developed workload and time management skills, with an ability to work under your own initiative. You will have a positive approach to self-development.
