An opportunity has arisen within Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, for a Physiotherapist to join our specialist Surgical Rehabilitation rotation.

Rotating on 9 monthly basis you will have the opportunity to gain experience within a broad range of clinical areas. These include Trauma, Orthopaedics, Vascular Surgery and  community-based services e.g  Artificial Limb Appliance Centre,  and a community rehabilitation team (VCRS). You must be able to demonstrate the relevant skills, experience and enthusiasm required to work within these clinical areas.

We offer you the opportunity to develop both your clinical and leadership skills and the Physiotherapy department provides full induction, a comprehensive programme of in-service training, regular appraisal and opportunities for development.

You may be required to work your normal contracted hours flexibly in a variety of different working patterns in response to the needs of the service. For example, this could include working their contracted hours as part of a service model that includes extended days/ 7 day job plans.

The successful post holder must share our core values and beliefs.

### Main duties of the job

To work alongside members of the multidisciplinary team to deliver physiotherapy services to patients within these specialist clinical areas.  This will include patients with multi-pathology and complex need and those with cognitive and behavioural problems.

The postholder will have responsibility for managing their own patient caseload. They will participate in the on-call service (overnight and weekends) where they will work independently, managing the respiratory needs of complex critically ill patients.

In addition, they will provide support for the clinical supervision of physiotherapists, student physiotherapists and support staff.

Please note that we will only accept applications from staff currently employed by Cardiff and Vale University Local Health Board.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

- Participate and experience in emergency respiratory rota (if applicable to rotational role) Willingness to work flexible hour
- Able to travel, in a timely manner to meet the requirements of the job, this may include cross site working or various locations, carrying sensitive information and bulky equipment (if applicable to role)

**Desirable**

- Membership of relevant special interest group
- The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role

**Essential**

- Demonstrate specialist skills within the specialist area
- Excellent communication skills with healthcare professionals and the public
- Highly developed physical skills relevant to the specialist clinical area e.g. manual techniques and therapeutic handling
- Proven ability to motivate others, promote coproduction and empower others
- Confident with digital technology platforms/apps

**Desirable**

- Evidence of involvement in audit and research

### Experience

**Essential**

- Relevant post registration experience in the specialist area
- Previous clinical experience relevant to post
- Evidence of assisting in planning and developing of an existing service

- Experience of providing clinical supervision
- Experience of teaching other disciplines

### Qualification

**Essential**

- Recognised qualification degree / equivalent in physiotherapy
- HCPC Registration
- H.C.P.C. registration supplemented by specialist courses, CPD and experience across specialties gained from post-registration short rotations or equivalent

**Desirable**

- Member of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy

### Special Knowledge

**Essential**

- Relevent CPD evidence
- Awareness of Health and Safety/ clinical risk management
