Come and join our highly skilled team, assessing and treating patients with musculoskeletal disorders. The post also involves you being part of a specialist peripheral nerve injury service. The caseload includes chronic conditions, tertiary physiotherapy opinions and rehabilitation following routine and complex orthopaedic surgery.  The post will be based at our Central London site (Bolsover Street).

Our innovative and dynamic teams, including Clinical Specialists and Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioners, ensure staff are supported with supervision and training.  There will be opportunities to develop your leadership and clinical skills and contribute to service development, audit and teaching of staff and under and post- graduate students.

This is an ideal opportunity for a physiotherapist who has 3 years’ post graduate experience with at least 1 years in MSK outpatients.

Job Purpose:  The post holder will provide a high standard physiotherapy service to patients through all stages of their rehabilitation and as a non-rotational physiotherapist will act as a link person in the day to day running of the area of specialty, liaising with other professional team members.

To perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse and complex conditions in both an MSK and PNI setting, to provide a physiotherapy diagnosis and to develop and deliver a patient focused treatment programme.

To be responsible for own caseload working without direct supervision. All aspects of clinical duties will be undertaken as an autonomous practitioner. Supervision takes the form of regular formal training and clinical reasoning sessions, problem case sessions and peer review.   Access to advice and support from senior colleagues is available if required.

To supervise, educate and assess the performance of more rotational staff and physiotherapy students.  To take a lead on the unit in the absence of lead clinician

To undertake evidence based audit and research projects to further own and teams clinical practice within each rotation.  To make recommendations to the clinical lead/manager for changes to practice by team.  To lead on the implementation of specific changes to practice

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- 3 years’ experience as a junior grade in a broad range of rotations including orthopaedics/out patients, respiratory care and ITU, rehabilitation including a minimum of 12 months in non-rotational specialty
- Experience of teaching less experienced staff or students
- Involvement in audit and understanding quality issues
- Experience working with patients with complex needs

**Desirable**

- Experience in NHS
- Involvement in research

- Up to date knowledge of professional practice and new research
- Able to present information, written and orally, in a clear, concise and logical manner
- Ability to communicate with patients with impaired communication abilities. Able to demonstrate empathy, motivate and persuade patients with impaired cognitive abilities or physical senses.
- Demonstrates clinical reasoning, applying theory to practice

**Desirable**

- Competent IT skills
- Presentation skills

### Education and Qualification

**Essential**

- Diploma/degree in physiotherapy
- Registered with Health Professions Council
- Evidence of CPD maintained portfolio including attendance at recent post graduate courses relevant to this post

**Desirable**

- Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
- Involvement in CSP clinical interest group
