The post holder will be a specialist in Cardiac Echocardiography with BSE accreditation.

This post requires a close working relationship with the Principal Echocardiographer and the Consultant Clinical Scientist.

Work is carried out either across four days, 8am – 6pm or 5 days, 9am – 5pm depending on departmental need, Monday –Friday.

### Main duties of the job

To ensure the provision of a quality echo service at Princess Royal University Hospital and when required at King's College Hospital.

To take specific responsibility for the development of a one stop echo service for patients attending cardiology outpatients.

To provide teaching and support to other members of the department learning echocardiography.

To work co-operatively and collaboratively with members of other professions and disciplines, ensuring the provision of a progressive learning environment for all staff.

To contribute to the professional leadership of the technical staff within the Non Invasive Cardiac Department.

To actively encourage and develop a multidisciplinary approach to Cardiac Care.

To carry out diagnostic echocardiography and report clinical echo studies independently and promptly.

To assist with the provision of stress, 3D, contrast and transoesophageal echocardiography services.

To help develop and supervise an immediate (one-stop) echo service for patients attending cardiology outpatient clinics.

To participate in emergency echo support for theatre.

To assist in monitoring stock levels of technical equipment, resolving any shortfalls as appropriate.

To promote a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care within the Trust, ensuring a patient-centred approach to care.

To actively encourage the development of innovative practices within the department.
