### Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Phlebotomist to join The Willow Group, a forward thinking and innovative GP group providing primary care services for 48,000 patients over 5 local sites in Gosport. This post is 16 hours per week.

You will be a core member of the practice team and will provide physical and psychological care to patients in accordance with the specified plan of care and as directed by a registered nurse or other qualified practitioner.

In this role, you will work to provide person centred and safe care to all patients and accurately record and report patient information to the registered nurse in a timely way and in line with agreed procedures.

Previous experience in a similar role, including phlebotomy, is required. Must have a caring attitude, good communication skills and enjoy working as part of a dedicated team.

### Main duties of the job

*Work under indirect supervision in accordance with defined work rotas and protocols

*Provide a Phlebotomy service within Primary care

*Be competent in the assessment of patients both physically and emotionally, to ensure safety prior to blood samples being taken and offer appropriate patient support.

*Be competent in the selection of the appropriate sample bottles for all common laboratory investigations.

*Ensure samples are correctly labelled for transportation to the laboratory.

*To contribute to the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care of patients working under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse or other qualified practitioner.

*To provide chaperone duties to the patient under the direction of the GP or allied health professional in charge.

*Maintain legible, accurate, contemporaneous records that are dated and signed.

*Be responsible for the ordering of stock when required as directed by the Registered Nurse.
