Based at West Berkshire Community Hospital, you will be working with a team of Phlebotomists. The department is expanding its opening hours and will be open between Monday to Friday between 08:00-18:00 hrs and on alternative Saturday mornings between 08:00-13:00 hrs. We are a busy, dynamic department and would like to hear from suitable qualified people. You will have had recent phlebotomy experience (minimum 6 months) and are expected to complete our local competency assessments. This post is for 2 positions: - hours per week, working various different shift times. and 33.5hours per on a 2 weekly working pattern, Week one: Monday- 0800-1800, Wednesday- 0800-1800, Friday- 0800-1800 and Saturday - 0800-1300. Week two: Monday- 0800-1800, Tuesday- 0800- 1300, Wednesday- 0800-1800 and Friday - 0800-1800 ### Main duties of the job - Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample. - Ensure safe collection of blood samples according to agreed procedures. - Ensure appropriate and accurate labelling and dispatch specimens to laboratories. - To answer the telephone and deal with calls politely and efficiently. ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities The “must haves” for this role: - Phlebotomy qualification / GCSE or equivalent in Maths / English - Previous experience essential - Dealing with patients in a sympathetic and supportive way - Excellent communication skills For further information about the role, please see attached job description and person specification.
