This is a part-time position with up to 30.5 hours available per week. You will be part of a team providing a blood-taking service across Scarborough Hospital outpatient and ward areas, as well as the new CDC service in Eastfield, Scarborough, and at Malton Hospital. You will need to be: - An enthusiastic and motivated team player. - Someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. - Passionate about delivering high-quality, timely, and effective phlebotomy services. - Flexible and able to work across all service locations and hours on a rotating basis. Previous blood-taking experience is not essential. If you share our values and are committed to patient care, we would love to hear from you! ### Main duties of the job - To collect blood samples from patients through venepuncture, as requested by clinicians and other appropriately authorised doctors and health professionals. - To collect blood samples safely with due respect to the dignity of patients, and the needs of other clinical services. - To ensure blood samples are collected in appropriate containers, labelled correctly, and prepared and dispatched to relevant laboratory sections in a timely and correct manner. - To contribute to the provision of an efficient, high quality service and ensure that proficiency and competence and personal and professional standards of that group are maintained. - To work closely with Medical, Nursing, and Laboratory staff to provide a rapid blood collection service, which is sensitive to service requirements on individual Wards, OPD or GP practices as appropriate. - To provide high quality, timely and effective phlebotomy services to patients on one or more floors at Scarborough Hospital, or other designated areas as directed by the Deputy/ Phlebotomy Manager. - To take part in a weekend and bank holiday rota to maintain phlebotomy services across the Trust. ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities A full description of the role is available in the attachment: job description.
