This role is open to all applicants. However, in line with Cornwall First recruitment principles, initial shortlisting will prioritise applicants from Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust, Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, and the Integrated Care Board for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

We are looking to recruit 1 part time Phlebotomist to be part of a wider Phlebotomy team at Royal Cornwall Hospital.

This Role will involve covering Inpatient Phlebotomy Service,  Oncology and Haematology Clinics

To participate in the provision of a Phlebotomy Inpatient service to Wards and Outpatient Departments, based at Royal Cornwall Hospital Truro

The successful candidate must be able to start at 7am and work at weekends

### Main duties of the job

Working under the direction of the Phlebotomy lead to provide a Phlebotomy service  for hospital wards and  clinics.

Ensure observance of Trust policies in maintaining all service            standards.

To visit Wards, and Outpatient Clinics to take venous blood samples from patients as requested by a Doctor or a member of nursing staff and in accordance with written procedures.

To ensure that your responsibilities for the prevention and control of infection are fulfilled by following all Trust guidelines and protocols.

To arrange delivery to the appropriate laboratories according to current Pathology policy.

To undertake first line tests on blood samples in accordance with written procedures.

To respect patient Confidentiality and Dignity.

At all times to work in accordance with the procedures and policies of the Trust, in particular Clinical Skills training package (Practice development) and Health and Safety.

To relate to the Senior Phlebotomist on a regular basis to keep up to date and receive regular training.

Supervise/train team members

Part time - 25 hours per week. Working a variety of shifts on a rotational basis.  Monday to Sunday including Bank Holidays. Example shift times are - 7:00-12:00, 7:00-15.30. The successful candidate must be able to start at 7am and work at weekends.
