We have an exciting opportunity for GPhC‑registered Pharmacy Technicians to join our Education and Training team at Frimley Health.

This is a Band 5 post, designed for pharmacy technicians with hospital experience who have a passion for education and training, and who are motivated to train, mentor, coach, and support pharmacy staff and learners throughout their professional development journey.

You will be supported through a comprehensive in‑house training programme, including practice supervision training, supervisory and leadership training and medicines management competencies, to equip you with the skills needed to provide hands-on training and line management.

### Main duties of the job

- Provide excellent patient care for inpatients, outpatients and external units.
- Work with the EPIC electronic prescribing system and Omnicell automated dispensing cabinets to deliver an accurate, timely and cost-effective pharmacy service.
- Duties include accurate labelling, dispensing and checking of a wide range of prescriptions, including controlled drugs, clinical trials, TPN, chemotherapy, home IV therapies and palliative care medicines.
- Medicines management rotations will offer direct patient contact, including taking medication histories, medicines reconciliation, supporting safe and correct use of prescribed medicines and counselling patients on new treatments.
- A competency unit will be provided for each area to ensure full training is completed and competence is demonstrated before independent working is expected.
- Provide the education and training of all the above dispensary duties for our registered pharmacy staff and trainees.
- Be a Practice Supervisor and Educational Supervisor for level 2 and 3 pharmacy apprentices.

You will need:

- To be a registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council with hospital experience.

The post holder will be a GPhC‑registered Pharmacy Technician responsible for contributing to the delivery of safe, effective and patient‑centred pharmacy services.

- Follow established procedures and uphold high professional standards.
- Support service improvement and patient safety initiatives across the pharmacy service.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Hospital pharmacy experience.
- Experience of training others

**Desirable**

- Experience in supervising people.
- Experience of using the EPIC EPR system.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Registered as a Pharmacy technician with GPHC
- Recognised Accredited Checking qualification.
- Recognised Medicines Management qualification

**Desirable**

- A1/V1 Assessor
- Practice/Education Supervisor accreditation
- Leadership/management qualification

### Skills & Knowledge

**Essential**

- Leadership experience
- Experience of dealing with poor performance issues/difficult situations
- Ability to function calmly and efficiently whilst under pressure

**Desirable**

- Good knowledge of extended role of technicians
- Awareness of apprenticeship model

### Special Requirements

**Essential**

- Ability to be work flexible hours including late evenings, bank holidays and weekends on a rotational basis.
- This post may require you to work cross site occasionally therefore must have a willingness to travel between sites.
