We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking and reliable Porter to join our well-established team and support the delivery of a modern pharmacy service at #TeamIOWNHS

Our busy, fully automated pharmacy department provides a comprehensive, patient-focused service, and this role is an important part of ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the department.

The successful applicant will be physically fit and capable of undertaking manual handling duties. You will have excellent practical problem-solving and prioritisation skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively and work positively with a wide range of people.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working as part of a team, has a proactive approach to their work, and is keen to learn and develop within the role. Applicants should be flexible, able to work under pressure, and committed to delivering a high standard of service.

### Main duties of the job

To undertake portering duties for the Pharmacy Department, this will include the safe transportation of medicines, intravenous fluids, medical gases and pharmacy waste. Provide effective input into the work of the Trust, to support the achievement of our vision and values.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Provide prompt and safe delivery of all medicines including Controlled Drugs, following strict procedures to ensure timely supply of medicines to wards and units. Receive and sign for the deliveries of medicines direct from manufacturers as appropriate, including checking off and putting away intravenous and irrigation fluids and assisting delivery drivers/stores manager as necessary. Ensure completion of relevant documentation whilst carrying out duties; including obtaining authorised signatures from ward staff on delivery of medicines and recording of orders and stock takes for medical gas cylinders.

### Applicant requirements

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Trained or willing to undertake training in medical gas cylinder safety
- Experience in a hospital or similar environment
- Proven experience of working with the public
- Experience of working within teams
- Experience of working unsupervised
- Clean UK Driving Licence

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Numeracy and literacy skills to GSCE grade C or equivalent
