This post is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated pharmacy technician to join our friendly pharmacy team in delivering a high quality pharmacy service to our patients across various specialities on Singleton Hospital site.

The successful candidate will work for clinical services to wards and dispensary. We are a department that is committed to the extended role of technicians and you will be encouraged to develop your skills in all aspects of hospital pharmacy practice in our busy department providing services to Neonatology, maternity, cancer, surgery and ophthalmology.

Applicants will hold a valid BTEC & NVQ level 3 Pharmaceutical Science Certificate with additional MM and ACPT qualifications, or a Certification of Higher Education in Pharmacy Technician Practice – Level 4, and be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

If you have the ability to work using your own initiative, have good communication skills, a high level of accuracy and are keen to develop your skills this is the job for you!

The pharmacy team has a proven track record of innovation and delivering excellent patient care as part of the wider MDT. You will be joining a supportive team where the focus is about working hard but having the correct work life balance.

### Main duties of the job

Main duties include:

- Provide a medicines management service to an inpatient ward including drug history, and medicines reconciliation.
- Responsible for safe, efficient and effective checking of prescriptions dispensed by other members of the pharmacy team in the dispensary and ward based (including Clinical Trials).
- Being part of the ward MDT and the wider pharmacy team. This includes being part of the pharmacy weekend and bank holiday rota.
- Support Education and Training activities within the department.
- Provide leadership and mentoring within the dispensary and ward-based teams.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Significant experience of working in a hospital pharmacy department or equivalent.
- Experience of managing staff.
- Ability to work as a ‘lead’ technician.

**Desirable**

- Proven track record of competence.

### Apitude and Abilities

**Essential**

- Ability to manage the day to day provision of pharmacy service within area and act as a role model and provide advice to junior staff.
- Ability to know when to refer to Pharmacist and to work independently with full range of local pharmacy codes and procedures.
- Good verbal/written communication skills, problem solving as well as Innovative and well organised.
- Good communicator, motivated, able to work as part of a team.

### Qualifications & Knowledge

**Essential**

- NVQ3 and BTEC in pharmaceutical science (or equivalent).
- Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician and Medicines Management qualified or relevant demonstrable experience to degree level.
- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
