An exciting opportunity has arisen within the PD unit at Royal London Hospital for a Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse position. We are looking for a highly motivated, skilled and experienced nurse to join our dedicated and friendly team. The post is based at the Royal London Hospital, 9th Floor, there is an expectation for the post-holder to work 7-day service and also provide community support to patients in their homes.

Our aim is to deliver the highest quality of care to patients on peritoneal dialysis. If you are passionate about making a difference to patients care and believe you meet the job specification; essential and desirable criteria we welcome your application.

### Main duties of the job

The peritoneal dialysis nurse has responsibility to promote the highest standards of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualized, holistic patient care of peritoneal dialysis patients.

The peritoneal dialysis nurse will deputize for the peritoneal dialysis senior sister in their absence when necessary and ensures continuity and high standards of care including sharing ideas, information and feedback in order to empower patients and members of the multidisciplinary team.

The post holder will act as a credible and professional role model and encourage and empower other staff and student nurses to develop both personally and professionally to achieve their maximum potential. The post holder is responsible for the delivery of a consistently high standard of care to meet patient needs and Unit objectives.

The post holder must take a proactive role in producing accurate and complete records of activities and communications consistent with legislation, policies and procedures.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Demonstrate an understanding of current developments in the speciality (evidence based practice).
- Knowledge of current professional issues and understanding of NMC Code of Conduct

- Understanding of clinical supervision.
- Demonstrates an understanding of mentorship and preceptor ship
- Understanding of Clinical and Shared Governance and their implications to practice.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Minimum of one year experience post registration.
- Six months general ward management
- Evidence of a positive contribution to team work

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Professional Registration
- Intravenous accreditation
- Relevant post specialist qualification or equivalent eg: Renal course
- Basic Life Support training

**Desirable**

- Teaching Qualification
