### Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide specialist midwifery leadership for the Trust’s perinatal mortality and morbidity review processes, ensuring robust, timely and high-quality reviews in line with national standards. The role requires a high degree of autonomy, professional judgement and multidisciplinary influence in complex and sensitive situations. The post holder will lead thematic analysis, triangulate learning from multiple governance sources, provide assurance to senior leaders, and support the translation of findings into measurable service improvement across maternity services.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Main Duties and Responsibilities

- Provide specialist leadership for PMRT, MBRRACE-UK and MNSI trust-wide reporting via the SPEN portal, producing thematic analyses and triangulation of learning to inform governance, learning and quality improvement

- Lead the coordination and facilitation of support of women and families with PMRT and MNSI processes, ensuring their voices are heard and included within the review processes

- Be accountable for the coordination and facilitation of Perinatal Mortality Review Tool (PMRT) meetings, ensuring all eligible cases are reviewed in line with national guidance and within required timescales

- Lead and provide assurance on specified elements of the Maternity Incentive Scheme, relevant to the role

- Lead and oversee multidisciplinary reviews and, where required, external review input to support robust, objective and timely case reviews as appropriate

- Work collaboratively with maternity, neonatal, obstetric and governance colleagues to identify themes, contributory factors and opportunities for improvement from mortality and morbidity review findings.

- Use findings from PMRT, MBRRACE-UK, MNSI, incident reviews, audit and other governance sources to triangulate themes and support service learning.

- Lead the review and benchmarking of national publications related to perinatal mortality and morbidity

- Lead on the development, implementation and monitoring of action plans arising from perinatal mortality and morbidity reviews, ensuring recommendations are translated into measurable improvements in practice.

- Provide specialist advice and support to clinical teams and senior leaders in relation to perinatal mortality and morbidity reviews, governance and assurance.

- Contribute to education, feedback and dissemination of learning from reviews to support continuous improvement in safety, quality and experience.

- Work closely with the bereavement lead midwife, obstetric bereavement lead, governance team and other relevant clinical leads to provide expert advice, improve care and experience for women and families

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Evidence of specialist experience of Perinatal mortality and morbidity and coordinating multidisciplinary teams
- Evidence of leading and managing a team or clinical service
- Developing and delivering education and training courses to all disciplines
- Leading practice development and experience in change management to demonstrate learning from incidents and/or service failure
- Trust Board and/or Board subcommittee presentations and assurance through analysis of data and translation into practice improvements
- Experience in team management
- Experience in leading and managing projects
- Experience of guideline and policy development
- Ability to lead change and embed learning into practice

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Registered Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
- Requires midwifery specialist knowledge of Perinatal morbidity and mortality standards in an acute maternity setting.
- Degree or equivalent experience to master level

**Desirable**

- Teaching qualification or equivalent
