We are recruiting for a perinatal Mental Health Midwife who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

This is an excellent opportunity to join the safeguarding team within the Trust. You will be a fundamental part of the safeguarding team and work closely with the maternity division to ensure that the safeguarding / Perinatal mental health remains at the heart of practice within Midwifery.

### Main duties of the job

The primary purpose of this position is to ensure the safety and welfare of all pregnant women and their babies in receipt of care within East and North Hertfordshire NHS Teaching Trust services. In order to undertake this, the post holder will manage and lead the safeguarding midwifery and perinatal mental health team, and will contribute to delivering the wider safeguarding and mental health services.

You will be responsible for offering expert advice and guidance to staff in all matters relating to maternity safeguarding and perinatal mental health and to ensure that we develop a confident and competent workforce that is able to recognise and appropriately respond to any safeguarding concerns.

Working closely with the wider safeguarding team you will continually improve and develop the safeguarding agenda, aligning with the Trust's strategic agenda, as well as local and national safeguarding priorities and guidance. Providing effective communication, networking and liaison, establishing and maintaining good working relationships within health services and other agencies to ensure that information relating to safeguarding is up to date and embedded in practice.

### Previous Experience

**Essential**

- Considerable experience in working with women with additional mental health needs
- Considerable experience of MDT working
- Evidence of ability and knowledge on how to undertake audit and feedback
- Implementation of audit/research recommendations
- Evidence of presentations at local / national levels
- Commitment to the on-going implementation of the Trust mental health strategy
- Understanding of quality issues in relations to mental health and clinical governance
- Experience of report writing
- Significant knowledge of safeguarding procedures and policies
- Evidence of leading an area of work
- Working knowledge of national frameworks

**Desirable**

- Experience of delivering training to a variety of audiences

- Confidence to adapt to an evolving and changing service

- Relevant registered professional qualification
- Recognised leadership qualification.
- Evidence of additional relevant CPD
- Experienced midwife
