### Job overview

As Peri-Operative Matron, you will:

- Provide visible and compassionate leadership across peri-operative services.
- Champion patient safety, quality and clinical excellence.
- Lead workforce development, staff wellbeing and talent management.
- Drive service improvement, efficiency and performance outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to enhance the patient experience.

### Main duties of the job

- To provide clinical, professional and managerial leadership across the SBUs.
- To be the nursing lead, providing a strong clinical presence and developing nurses and nursing practice within the SBUs, assuring the provision of a safe, effective and evidence based nursing service to patients. Lead and direct development of privacy, dignity, equality and the delivery of safe patient care including infection control and nutrition/hydration.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

- To implement the Trust’s Nursing Strategy through the development and implementation of a strong nursing strategy at SBU level.
- To be responsible for implementing and monitoring the agreed trust quality indicators & KPI.
- Ensure infection control agenda is adhered to including the Nursing Indicator Audit programme.
- To be responsible for effective workforce planning within managed areas on a day to day basis reporting variances as appropriate.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Implementation of national nursing guidance and standards, and championing of good clinical practice
- Clinical competence, including administering drugs and I/V’s

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- RGN/RM (Adult) registration
- 1st level Nursing Degree

**Desirable**

- Clinical Specialist qualification (or experience) in their area
