Post holders will be expected to work a minimum of 23hrs per week across days, nights and weekend shifts. ### Main duties of the job The post-holder will be an experienced, knowledgeable practitioner in Paediatric Critical Care providing clinically based practice development and education. They will role model best, evidence-based professional practice. Clinical education will form approximately 50% of the role, engaging in education activities and working flexibly to maximise education delivery to support staff and patient safety/experience e.g.: - Working alongside learners at all stages of development to facilitate learning - Identifying and supporting learning needs within PCC - Developing and updating training resources - Contributing to the delivery of education programmes within the Paediatric Critical Care unit and across the Directorate. The role holder will spend the remainder their time in clinical practice working within the B6 clinical workforce to: - Provide clinical leadership ensuring a high standard of individualised nursing and family centred care is delivered to critically ill children. - Work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, communicating effectively with all levels of medical and nursing staff. - Uphold PCCU’s Nursing Philosophy of Care. - Effectively manage PCCU on a day-to-day basis, in the absence of a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse. ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities The successful candidate will be able to work well within the team and be willing to work a mixed shift pattern including days and nights across the whole week. They will have experience of and enthusiasm for teaching and supporting staff development through a variety of methods. They will have significant post registration experience with a relevant course for Paediatric Critical Care, and experience / evidence of competency working as a Band 6 within Paediatric Critical Care. They will be a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual with excellent clinical and communication skills, with an ability to lead and motivate others.
