### Job overview

We are looking for an adaptable and enthusiastic individual to join our small, friendly, Care of the Elderly team.  You will support with coordination and scheduling of predominantly outpatient pathways and provide administrative support to our team of Consultants.

### Main duties of the job

Reporting to the Service Manager for Care of the Elderly, you will work closely with all members of the  Care of the Elderly team to support the administration and scheduling of outpatient activity for the Care of the Elderly Service. A flexible approach and excellent interpersonal skills are essential in addition to high standards of customer service.

You will be the point of contact for all administrative and clerical issues relating to a patient’s care pathway, tracking and supporting patients from referral to treatment &/or discharge.

The role will require some patient-facing activity, and you will also be expected to manage and support queries from patients, clinicians and fellow staff. Excellent telephone skills and good IT proficiency will also be essential in helping with day-to-day duties. The role requires the postholder to be able to work flexibly at either hospital site

### Skills

**Essential**

- Experience dealing with customer complaints and customer care.
- The ability to prioritise tasks effectively without direct supervision.

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Knowledge of NHS service provision including the pathway of care
- Knowledge of healthcare administrative systems and processes
- Understanding of medical terminology
- Computer literate with knowledge of common applications such as MS Word/Excel/Teams
- Knowledge of confidentiality and data protection principles

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of using a full range of IT/Patient administration systems including iClip Pro/Cerner
- Experience working in a similar administrative role in a hospital/health care setting

**Desirable**

- Experience working in a public facing role

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Good general education with GCSE or equivalent in English at grade C or above.

**Desirable**

- ECDL
- NVQ level 3 in Business Administration or Customer Care Equivalent
