Patient Pathway Co-ordinator Fixed Term until 24 December 2026

Department Respiratory

Band 4 £27,485 - £30,162 per annum (pro rata if Part-time)

Hours 37.5 per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working

An exciting opportunities have arisen within Patient Access.  There is a need for a skilled Patient Pathway Co-ordinator to work within an established team to provide administration support to consultants and Allied Health Professionals, providing an interface for clinical staff and other admin services.

The ideal candidates would have previous medical secretary, clinical administrative experience.  A working knowledge of E-care, E-referral and Patient Tracking Lists would be an advantage.

The successful post holder will have an essential role in providing safe patient care and ensuring that patients do not breach the 18 weeks target.

So if you like challenges, are a quick learner, work well in a team and have transferrable skills that can be adapted, this could be the right job for you!

To ensure a safe and smooth pathway for all patients, from the point of referral to discharge.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

- Proactive coordination of patient pathways in accordance with national and locally defined policies and standards, inclusive of ensuring relevant appointments, diagnostic tests etc are arranged, results are reviewed, escalations to the relevant clinician or team are made, relevant departments are liaised with and MKUH systems are accurately updated.
- Provision of a comprehensive senior administration service to clinicians and teams within a designated specialty.

General
- Supporting clinical and operational teams to deliver an efficient and effective outpatient service.

- Setting up outpatient clinics inclusive of booking / cancelling rooms and assisting operational teams with clinic template arrangements.

- Ability to make decisions using own initiative.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Customer care work experience or previous clerical experience.
- Ability to input and retrieve information on a computerised system whilst adhering to complex local and national policies and guidelines accurately and efficiently.

**Desirable**

- Experience of handling inbound and outbound telephone calls of a potentially sensitive nature whilst recording information accurately into multiple electronic data systems
- Experience of transcribing dictation or copy typing.

### Communication

**Essential**

- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Good telephone manner.
- Good all round communication skills.
- Good customer service skills

### Qualifications and knowledge

**Essential**

- Good general education including English at GCSE (Grade C or above) or equivalent.
