An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Patient Pathway Administrator (PPA) within the Childrens Hospital, based at NUH Queens Medical  Hospital. This full time role is 37.5hrs per week

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and conscientious team player, who can work well under pressure and can prioritise their own workload.  Using Nervecentre or any other relevant electronic booking systems arrange appointments for new and follow up clinics, as instructed by the directorate management team medical/nursing staff.

Working as part of a team, the post-holder will support the provision of a high-quality administrative service. Successful candidates will be expected to ensure all clinical correspondence is typed and processed within specified timescales and be able to demonstrate a flexible approach to the role.

Duties will primarily include audio typing clinical correspondence using BigHand software, dealing with incoming mail, as well as communication with clinicians and colleagues.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Accurately transcribe clinical letters and clinical correspondence from BigHand digital dictation within defined deadlines.

Navigate hospital information systems, e.g. Nerve centre and Notis in order to obtain information on outpatient appointments, and access and obtain test results.

Use judgement and initiative to prioritise the importance/urgency of particular requests within defined guidelines.

Undertake daily audits of clinical correspondence to ensure a high standard of accuracy and quality of work.

Exchange sensitive or contentious information with diplomacy and in a confidential manner.

Accurately answer patient and consultant queries.

Answer telephone calls inbound and outbound relating to patient specific care in a confidential manner.

Liaise with outpatient administrators regarding appointments and necessary important clinical information to ensure patients are seen on their pathway without delay.

Establish and maintain admin systems/databases.

To undertake other specialty specific duties in accordance with Trust policies and procedures to facilitate the patient pathway.

Adapt a flexible attitude to meet the needs of the service, taking into consideration the department’s specialty and the subsequent requirements of such specialist services.

Provide cover for PPA colleagues during times of sickness and annual leave.

Promote an open friendly working environment.

Adhere to Trust policies and procedures relevant to your position.

Undertake any other duties which may be reasonably required.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Proven typing and admin experience, fast and accurate audio typing. Experience in using Microsoft packages including word, excel, demonstrates an understanding of patient/client confidentiality (GDPR) Can complete letters, forms, reports and tables using computerised technology from information collected

**Desirable**

- Previous experience of working in the NHS and experience using Webhiss, Medway PAS and Notis. Knowledge of 18 week and cancer targets/medical terminology

### Physical skills

**Essential**

- Uses Hospital and own equipment responsibly, frequent use of VDU equipment, be able to sit for prolonged period, empty stock from large cages

### Training & Qualifications

**Essential**

- 3 GCSEs or equivalent grade C or above – must include English, Computer literate to ECDL standard or equivalent, RSA III word processing or equivalent experience

**Desirable**

- NVQ level 3 or equivalent
