### Job summary

Ruskington Medical Practice have an exciting opportunities for a Patient Navigator (Receptionist/Administrators) to join our friendly team on an 18 month maternity cover contract.

We are hoping to interview candidates week commencing 24th August for a start date early September 2026.

### Main duties of the job

This is a vital role in the smooth running of the Practice.

Patient Navigators are the first point of contact for patients, responding to queries and requests for assistance from patients, carers and other visitors. Monitoring the flow of patients into consulting rooms.

Efficient response regarding AccuRx patient requests, handling telephone calls, ensuring the smooth running of the appointment system for clinicians.

Explaining practice procedures to new patients and to those seeking temporary registration, ensuring all processes are completed accurately.

Ensure reception area and waiting room are kept neat and tidy (including toilets).

Receive and make calls as required. Divert calls and take messages as appropriate.

Deal with the answerphone cancellation line.

Advise patients of relevant charges for private services, (i.e. medical report requests) accepting card payments and issuing receipts when requested.

Retrieve and re-file information as required, ensuring the filing process is adhered to.

Responsible for the scanning of correspondence into patient electronic clinical records, following workflow process/protocol.

Follow opening up and closing down procedures for reception ensuring that security of the building is always maintained.

Ensure that the telephone system is operational at the beginning of each day and switched over to night service at the end of the day.

Any other reasonable duties that may be required from time to time.

### Job responsibilities

Our Patient Navigators (Receptionist/Administrators) play a vital role within the Practice team, often being the first point of contact for our patients.

Duties include receiving, assisting and directing patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare, in a professional, courteous, efficient and effective way, either by telephone, electronically via our online Total Triage system, AccuRx or by face to face contact in the Practice.

The role also involves the administration function for incoming and outgoing mail and any other correspondence, and the processing of patient records.

Providing general assistance and support to the wider practice team whilst projecting a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, in what at times can be a pressured environment.

We are currently looking to fill the following hours:

Working Hours: 28.5

Monday 0800 - 1700

Tuesday 0800 - 1830

Wednesday 0800 - 1700

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of working within a customer service role involving face to face contact with public.

**Desirable**

- Experience of working in administration.
- Previous experience of working within a reception environment.
- Experience of working in a healthcare setting.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
- GCSE in Maths and English (C - 4/5 or above)
