As we embark on the next stages of our Pathology Digital Transformation Programme an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our Digital Pathology team on a permanent basis.

The post holder will practice as a registered Biomedical Scientist and will provide day to day support for a range of  Pathology IT systems including; Winpath Enterprise LIMS, specialist middleware systems, ICE and NPEX.

### Main duties of the job

- Under the guidance and supervision of the Pathology Digital Lead(s) the post holder will support the design, configuration, and implementation of Pathology Digital Systems, ensuring that discipline-specific laboratory workflows, quality requirements, and clinical needs are appropriately captured and reflected in the system configuration.
- The post holder will assist in the coordination and delivery of informatics activities within their discipline, collaborating closely with the Trust’s Digital Services, Pathology leadership teams, and external system suppliers to ensure the effective integration and operation of the LIMS and associated digital systems (including middleware, analyser interfaces, NPEX, and ICE).
- They will support the investigation and resolution of technical failures, configuration issues, or non-conformities arising from pathology digital systems, working in conjunction with the Pathology Quality Manager and senior colleagues to implement corrective and preventive actions, monitor outcomes, and maintain compliance with Trust and regulatory standards.
- The post holder will contribute to the resilient and secure delivery of pathology informatics services by providing application and operational support within their scope of competence, ensuring that system inputs, workflows, and outputs meet user and service requirements.

## Person Specification

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- IBMS Approved BSc (Hons) or equivalent
- State Registration (Health Professions Council)
- Practice as a registered Biomedical Scientist within their designated pathology discipline
- Evidence of recent continuing professional development

### Other Requirements

**Essential**

- There may be a requirement to travel between Trust premises as required for the performance of your duties. You may also be expected to work at any of the trust sites, including occasional travel to North Cumbria. The Trust would consider making reasonable adjustments to the role, if necessary, to enable a disabled person to undertake the role

### Experience and Knowledge

**Essential**

- Significant experience of working within a busy NHS Pathology laboratory
- Practical knowledge and hands on experience of Pathology Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and/or middleware applications.

**Desirable**

- Experience of supporting a recent service improvement project
