### Job overview

The job holder will play an essential role supporting the Lead Nurse in providing care for children in the Emergency Area whilst supporting the nursing teams throughout the 24-hour period.

There will be a requirement within this role of cross site working.  This will consist of approximately 15 hours per week working within the Paediatric ED at Bassetlaw Hospital.

As an experienced children’s nurse, the job holder will co-ordinate activities in the department ensuring effective communication is maintained at all times, providing support to qualified and unqualified staff within the department.  He/she will play a key role in the assessment of patient care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.

## Person Specification

### Knowledge & Experience

**Essential**

- At least two years experience at Band 5 or equivalent in Emergency Department or Acute setting
- Proven leadership and management skills
- Experience in change management

**Desirable**

- Involvement in staff/service development

### Qualifications & Training

**Essential**

- RSCN with current registration
- Evidence of continued professional development and implementation in clinical practice within the last 12 months
- Application of evidence based practice
- Recognised teaching/assessing qualification

**Desirable**

- Understanding of training needs in relation to post. i.e ALS, PLS, ILS, Trauma Course
- To development personal clinical ability to meet service demand
- Evidence of RCN competencies completion.
