Working Full time: 40 hours per week

The posts are appointments for specialist trainees in paediatrics as Teaching Fellows (ST3 equivalent and above) for 12 months commencing in September 2026.

The Teaching Fellows post available have been established to enhance the teaching of medical students in the Trust. These posts will include 50% of the time to be spent on clinical work, including a 0.5 wte contribution to the Medical On Call Rota at middle grade level.

Candidates should have passed all three of the theory exams and clinical exams for the MRCPCH.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will teach and co-ordinate students to ensure that students are able to achieve their learning objectives. There will be close liaison with the Undergraduate Co-Ordinator in the Trust. Half of the post holder's time will be spent on clinical work (including out of hours work). The remainder of the week used for teaching undergraduates attending the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

## Person Specification

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- 48 months experience (clinical) of working within the NHS (observership NOT accepted)
- Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies from a UKFPO affiliated Foundation Programme or equivalent by time of commencing post, in line with GMC standards/Good Medical Practice

**Desirable**

- Held a previous teaching post or designated teaching role
- Undertaken training or CPD related to teaching
- Clinical experience in paediatrics (Tier 2 Rota)

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Full registration with the GMC at the time of appointment
- Hold existing right to live and work in the UK, at the time of application
- MB ChB or equivalent medical qualification

**Desirable**

- Qualification in Medical Education
- MRCPCH
