Applicants need to specify which of the roles they would like to be considered for and rank them in order: - National Paediatric Orthopaedics and Trauma Fellowship - Commencing October 6th, 2027 – October 3rd, 2028: Six monthly rotation with 2 consultants each posting - National Paediatric Orthopaedics and Trauma Fellowship - Commencing  October 6th, 2027 – October 3rd, 2028: Six monthly rotation with 2 consultants each  posting - Paediatric Orthopaedics and Limb Reconstruction Fellowship – Commencing  October 6th, 2027 – October 3rd, 2028– 12 months with 2 limb reconstruction  consultants - Paediatric Orthopaedics and Trauma Fellowship (2 Posts) – Commencing April  5th, 2028 – April 3rd, 2029 : Six monthly rotation with 2 consultants each posting - Paediatric Orthopaedics and Trauma Fellowship   – Commencing April 7th, 2027–  October 5th, 2027 : Six month rotation with 2 consultants ### Main duties of the job The post is whole time with 40 standard hours per week attracting an ST6– ST8/ salary with 1 in 11 on-call rota with prospective cover shared with existent fellows and 3 Yorkshire specialist trainees. Salary is on the above new contract scale. Fellows are involved in both elective and fracture clinics, elective theatre sessions, trauma theatre sessions as well as ward rounds. There is a weekly Friday morning MDT and clinical governance meetings with participation by all middle grades. Appointees are expected in rare circumstances to cover any other colleague’s session due to sickness. Total working hours are less than 48. These are all posts designed for educational training. ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities All paediatric orthopaedic fellows receive comprehensive training in general orthopaedics and trauma, with additional exposure to gait analysis, deformity planning, and pre‑operative planning. The National Paediatric Orthopaedic Fellowship carries additional leadership responsibilities, including coordination of the weekly rota, oversight of day‑to‑day departmental operations, and management of trainee and fellow leave. A dedicated administrative session is provided, and the fellow liaises directly with departmental managers. The Paediatric Limb Reconstruction Fellowship offers focused training in limb reconstruction and deformity correction. The Young Adult Hip Fellowship provides experience across both paediatric and adult young hip preservation. Fellows also have opportunities to work with the knee preservation surgeons and the neuromuscular team. Where possible, paediatric orthopaedic fellows rotate through two subspecialties every six months. All fellows receive protected time for research, study, and audit, though occasional clinical cover may be required.
