Looking for a new challenge? This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, forward thinking Band 6 Paediatric Nurse to become part of our Paediatric Emergency Department team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive, motivated individual who can demonstrate both a good level of communication plus organisational and clinical skills as is evidenced by previous paediatric emergency department experience. We offer a supportive work environment that is committed to providing high quality care and supporting staff development.

In addition our department is undergoing an exciting new refurbishment which includes the development of a designated paediatric area within the Emergency Department.

Hours per week: 37.50

Main duties of the job

  • Assessment and triage
  • To take lead responsibility with the support of the Senior Nursing team to facilitate and develop the Paediatric Team’s professional development needs to meet individual and organisational objectives.
  • To support the Senior Nursing Team in leading and co-ordinating the Emergency Department Paediatric Unit to ensure that timely and efficient assessment/treatment and discharge of patients whilst maintaining patient safety and delivering high quality care.
  • To support the Senior Nursing team in leading and co-ordinating the Paediatric Unit in the early assessment and implementation of safe discharge planning, utilising appropriate resources and referral systems.
  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate and deliver high quality, evidence-based care, including maintaining high standards of documentation, involving the children, young people and their families throughout the process.
  • Develop and strengthen the skills of the wider Emergency Department team to ensure effective communication/clinical skills are maintained by liaising with the, Multi-Disciplinary Team, other health professionals, patients and their families/carers, leading by example.
